11979 Frankstown Rd – Apartment Fire

On Saturday afternoon stations 227, 223, 222, 226, 196 were alerted for a possible commercial structure fire on the sixth (6) floor of Penn Towers Apartment Building.  Truck 227 arrived on scene and crews quickly discovered a sixth floor apartment on fire.  227TK started a primary search.  Search crews were slowed by large amounts of trash and debris in the apartment.  Crews were able to find the apartment resident and evacuate them to the stairwells and transferred patient care to PH EMS.  223EN secured a water supply and connected to the stand pipe.  All units assisted with extinguishment and ventilation.  All units did a fantastic job.  Two (2) patients were transported to local hospitals with non-life threating injures.  ACFM is investigating the cause.
