On Tuesday afternoon, Stations 223 & 227 were alerted for a brush fire in the 6300-blk of Saltsburg Rd. 223LT arrived on scene and confirmed a large brush fire. 227EN arrived on scene, and crews deployed an attack line and started to bring the fire under control. 223EN arrived on scene and secured a water supply to 227EN. Due to the large amount of vegetation a backhoe was requested from PHDPW to get at the deep seated fire. Crews worked for about an hour and extinguished the fire. PHFM and PHCODE were notified. Saltsbrug Rd was closed in both directions for about 45mins.
